What is e-mail?
E-mail is an abbreviation of electronic mail. Whenever you send messages to people using a computer and they read it later, you've sent a piece of e-mail. You can send e-mail to a single recipient or to a whole slew of them. Some of the most common programs for sending and receiving e-mail are Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express.
Does e-mail cost extra?
With every domain name ordered you get up to 20 e-mail addresses as standard, at no extra cost. These e-mail addresses can be either POP3 accounts or forwarders, and take the form of whatever@yourdomain.com.
Do I get e-mail when I buy a domain name?
With every domain name ordered you get up to 20 e-mail addresses as standard, at no extra cost. These e-mail addresses can be either POP3 accounts or forwarders, and take the form of whatever@yourdomain.com. With each domain name you also receive Webmail access as standard.
What is the difference between POP3 and forwarding?
The terms POP3 and forwarding refer to two different types of e-mail that are provided with your domain name.

POP3 - Is a mailbox that is set up on your domain. You must configure your local mail client eg. Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express to retrieve the mail from the mailbox (don't worry it's a very simple procedure). All massages sent will be held in the mailbox until such time as you connect to the Internet and retrieve the messages using your mail client.

Forwarder - A forwarder simply forwards any messages sent to your e-mail address to an existing e-mail address. eg. A message sent to you@yourdomain.com could be forwarded to you@hotmail.com, and when you access your Hotmail account to check your messages you would also receive the ones to you@yourdomain.com.

In short a POP3 account is better if you are using the same computer all of the time to pick up your mail. Forwarders are better if you access your mail from different or shared computers.
Do I have to configure my local computer?
If you require POP3 mail accounts your local mail client (usually Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express) has to be configured to retrieve your messages from the mailbox. This is a simple procedure taking only a couple of minutes.
What is Webmail?
Webmail is 'roaming access' to your e-mail. This is a means of accessing your e-mail by logging onto a Webpage using a username and password. This enables you to send and receive mail from any computer at any time. Especially useful for people who need to access their mail while on the move.
Does Webmail cost extra?
No - Webmail comes as a standard feature with all domain names.
How do I set up my e-mail addresses?
Once your domain name has been secured it can take around 24 hours for it to become live across the Internet. At this time you will be contacted by e-mail explaining your options regarding setup of mail. Once you let us know your e-mail requirements we will set up the addresses and provide information on configuring your local mail client for POP3 accounts if required.
How many e-mail addresses do I get with a domain name?
With every domain name ordered you get up to 20 e-mail addresses at no extra cost. These e-mail addresses can be either POP3 accounts or forwarders, and take the form of whatever@yourdomain.com. Extra e-mail addresses are available when you add a 'Personal Control Panel Plus' to your domain name, further details can be found here.
